This month we shall shiver.....

Ok, so I like to be warm.  I hate to have to wear layers even in the winter, and admittedly this has been a cold month.  However, we just got a bill.......for the gas and electric......for this house and also the place we have in the mountains.....Here our house is about 6000 sq ft with forced air, in the mountains, where it is much much colder it is maybe 2450 sq ft and baseboard heating (water piped through).  But the bill for this past month, yes MONTH, was ....wait for it $935.45...approx. 467 pounds...for the month. 

Needless to say, I have been keeping the heating low today.

Whoopsy. I imagine your hubby was none too happy about that. I thought ours was high. Yikes. Turn on the fireplace!

Hub's aunt was on the phone in Sept & talking about her electric bill for Aug. 1700. OUCH!

We just got ours through too - it was 4 times the amount it used to be. The same thing happened in July, which was our last bill - and in the middle of summer too. We queried it then and were told they'd look into it (both "proper" readings too, not estimates) and then we never heard back from them and our monthly DD remained at £46. We never got the next bill (normally they're quarterly). A few days ago we got the latest one - 4x the amount again on an estimated reading and telling us our DD was going to go up to £120 a month!!! SH phoned them and got it sorted - can't understand why they think we're using so much when we only have 1 room more than we had down south and we're with the same company so they should know our usage history. Got to love leccy and gas companies, always trying it on. Still nothing like the amount of your bill, that's a corker.
